Featured Project

EMU Mark Jefferson Science Building
The Mark Jefferson project is an 86,000 square foot addition to the existing science building. The project was constructed while the existing science building continued to hold both day and evening classes. The space is laid out with new classroom labs on the lower three floors and faculty offices on the upper three floors. The project was designed and constructed to achive a LEED Silver rating and has many sustainability features.

Acoustic Ceiling & Partition's contract was to perform metal stud and drywall partitions, soffits, acoustical ceilings, exterior metal framing, spray on fireproofing and a unique suspended plaster surfaced planetarium. The planetarium is a striking visual feature in that it appears to be suspended within the atrium end of the building. ACP came up with unique and innovative solutions in finishing the exterior of the planetarium as a nearly perfect smooth surfaced sphere.

The project was completed in approximately 12 months.
